Jacob Elordi suffers brutal career blow... just months after revealing Kendall Jenner romance

Jacob Elordi, known for recent successes in film and television, is encountering a notable career challenge with the release of his latest movie, The Dog Stars. Directed by Ridley Scott, the post-apocalyptic drama has met with largely unfavorable reviews ahead of its wide release, a departure from Elordi’s previous streak of critically and commercially well-received projects.

The Dog Stars centers around Elordi’s character, a former pilot navigating a world devastated by a flu pandemic. The film’s narrative follows his quest beyond a secure enclave after he intercepts a strange radio broadcast. Despite a star-studded cast including Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Allison Janney, the film has struggled to resonate with critics, earning a notably low score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have expressed disappointment, describing the film as lacking originality and failing to invigorate the post-apocalyptic genre despite Ridley Scott’s directorial reputation. Some have labeled it among the most tedious entries in Scott’s long career, criticizing its derivative storytelling and pacing. However, a few voices in the critical community have acknowledged the film’s ambitious action sequences and the emotional depth Scott imparts to the characters, highlighting moments that verge on surreal and dramatic spectacle.

This critical reception contrasts with Elordi’s recent upward trajectory in the entertainment industry. He has come off prominent roles in projects such as Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein adaptation and the popular TV series Euphoria, alongside box office hits like Wuthering Heights and Saltburn. His ability to carry diverse roles has secured him a strong position in contemporary cinema, making the reception of The Dog Stars an unexpected hurdle.

Parallel to his professional developments, Elordi has attracted considerable media interest due to his relationship with model and media personality Kendall Jenner. The pair publicly acknowledged their romance in April, having been linked since early in the year through introductions facilitated by Jenner’s sister Kylie. Their relationship swiftly gained attention, with appearances together at high-profile events including the London premiere of The Dog Stars and the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

The couple’s travels have been widely documented, with sightings in locations such as Hawaii, Japan, and London, where Elordi reportedly secured a lavish penthouse suite at Claridge’s hotel to impress Jenner. Their public displays of affection, including a viral moment on TikTok, have amplified their status as a celebrity couple.

This personal spotlight coincides with the professional pressures Elordi faces amid mixed responses to his latest film. While the relationship has brought him increased visibility, it remains to be seen how this will influence his career trajectory in the wake of The Dog Stars’ critical challenges.

Elordi’s history of high-profile relationships includes previous associations with Olivia Jade, Kaia Gerber, and fellow actor Joey King. Jenner herself has experienced a public romantic history involving notable figures in the music and sports industries. Their union represents a convergence of high-profile entertainment and fashion spheres.

As The Dog Stars opens to audiences, Elordi stands at a crossroads, balancing the demands of maintaining his artistic credibility with the heightened scrutiny of his personal life. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how he navigates this phase, as the outcome could shape his opportunities in upcoming projects.

Details surrounding the commercial performance of The Dog Stars and any subsequent impact on Elordi’s career remain limited at this time. Nonetheless, the combination of critical response and media attention places him under significant pressure to reaffirm his standing in the competitive landscape of Hollywood.
