SNL 52 Promos Find Jalen Brunson and KATSEYE Locked In & More

NBC's long-running sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live is set to begin its 52nd season with a notable lineup that blends sports and music for its season opener. New York Knicks champion and NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson will make his hosting debut, bringing a fresh presence to the iconic Studio 8H stage.

Joining Brunson as the musical guest is KATSEYE, an act that will also be making their first appearance on the program. Their participation marks a new chapter for the show’s musical selections, introducing fresh sounds to the SNL audience.

The season premiere will unfold on September 26th, with the dynamic between Brunson and KATSEYE already highlighted in the show’s initial promotional spots. These promos feature the Knicks star engaging in comedic exchanges with cast member Marcello Hernandez, showcasing Brunson's adaptability beyond the basketball court. Meanwhile, members of KATSEYE appear to support Brunson, humorously emphasizing camaraderie ahead of the live broadcast.

The chemistry between host, musical guests, and cast was also evident during the season's first read-through, held midweek before the premiere. Brunson shared a symbolic New York City key he received following the Knicks’ championship win, underscoring his celebrated status in the city. However, he humorously noted that his main priority is gaining access to Studio 8H, the legendary SNL venue, hinting at the unique challenges and opportunities awaiting him as a first-time host.

Following the premiere, the show’s schedule features a mix of returning and new talent. Dakota Johnson will return as host for the third time on October 3rd, with Turnstile making their debut as musical guests. The October 10th episode will feature Shane Gillis hosting alongside Rosalía, who will perform for the second time. After a brief hiatus, Season 52 will resume on October 31st with Inde Navarrette hosting for the first time and Gracie Abrams returning as musical guest.

This fresh season arrives amid a context of reflection on the prior year’s digital engagement. Over the summer, SNL compiled and released its Season 51 top-performing content across multiple categories, including cold opens, monologues, live sketches, and Weekend Update segments. These compilations illustrate the show’s ongoing ability to captivate audiences across platforms and formats.

Details about the specific sketches or themes for the upcoming season remain limited, but the blend of celebrated sports figures and emerging musical acts signals an intent to maintain the show’s tradition of cultural relevance and variety. With Jalen Brunson stepping into hosting duties, SNL taps into the enthusiasm surrounding the Knicks’ recent championship run, potentially drawing new viewers from the sports world.

As the 52nd season unfolds, anticipation builds not only for the comedy and musical performances but also for how the new and returning hosts will shape the evolving identity of Saturday Night Live in today’s entertainment landscape.
