Unrivaled announces 2027 rosters as Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron team up on Hive BC, while Paige Bueckers lands with Breeze

The third season of Unrivaled, the innovative women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, is set to tip off on January 8, 2027, bringing an exciting new chapter to the sport. As the league prepares to showcase its distinctive style and high-caliber athletes, the 2027 rosters were officially released, revealing a dynamic shuffle of players across the eight teams.

Unrivaled's season will span eight weeks, with each team comprising six players competing in a total of 14 games. The schedule features each team facing every other squad twice, emphasizing strategic matchups and intense competition. A unique midseason event, a 1-on-1 tournament with a substantial prize pool, further diversifies the season’s offerings and highlights individual prowess.

This year’s player distribution underscores the league’s draft system, which facilitates roster changes annually. This mechanism ensures fresh team compositions and compelling on-court chemistry. Notably, Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron have joined forces on Hive Basketball Club, while standout guard Paige Bueckers will lead Breeze Basketball Club, signaling intriguing new alliances.

The rosters unveil a blend of established and emerging talent. Laces Basketball Club, guided by coach Andrew Wade, includes players such as Jackie Young and Satou Sabally, while Mist Basketball Club, last year’s champions, retain key figures like Breanna Stewart and Arike Ogunbowale alongside additions like Kiki Rice.

Rose Basketball Club, under Nola Henry, fields a competitive lineup featuring Chelsea Gray and Brittney Sykes. Lunar Owls, directed by DJ Sackman, bring together seasoned athletes including Skylar Diggins and Napheesa Collier. Phantom Basketball Club, coached by Roneeka Hodges, boasts top-tier players like Kelsey Plum and Li Yueru.

Vinyl Basketball Club, led by Teresa Weatherspoon, includes Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, while Breeze Basketball Club, with Jarrell Christian at the helm, showcases Paige Bueckers and Kahleah Copper. Hive Basketball Club, under Barbara Turner, merges youthful energy with experience through Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron.

In addition to the main rosters, a reserve pool of players such as Brittney Griner and Ta'Niya Latson remains on standby, able to substitute in as needed, ensuring depth and adaptability during the season.

The league’s contractual framework supports player stability, with a majority engaged in multi-year agreements. Financially, the league has grown since its inception, with starting salaries reportedly around $100,000 and average earnings exceeding that figure. Top-tier players are anticipated to earn upwards of $350,000, complemented by lucrative championship bonuses ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 per player within a $600,000 prize pool. The midseason 1-on-1 tournament also offers a significant purse between $200,000 and $250,000 to its victor.

While the league continues to attract and retain high-profile athletes, some notable absences mark this season. Aliyah Boston will miss the entire campaign due to recovery from knee surgery, and other players, including Rickea Jackson and Alyssa Thomas, are not returning. Contract terminations and retirements have also contributed to the evolving player landscape.

As Unrivaled enters its third season, the league solidifies its position as a pioneering platform for women’s basketball, combining competitive 3-on-3 play with innovative formats and substantial financial incentives. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as these newly assembled teams vie for supremacy starting early next year.
