‘Wicked in Concert’ Tour: Will Movie Actors Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande Perform? Everything You Need to Know

In early 2027, fans of the beloved musical Wicked will have the opportunity to experience a unique concert event that blends cinematic presentation with live orchestral performance. The Wicked in Concert tour is set to debut in January, delivering a fresh way to enjoy the score while watching the original film.

Rather than featuring the film’s star performers Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande on a traditional stage tour, this event involves a live symphony orchestra playing the musical score in perfect synchronization with the on-screen movie. This format preserves the original vocal and dialogue recordings from the film, allowing audiences to hear the iconic performances while immersing themselves in the rich sound of a live orchestra.

The concert will be divided into two distinct presentations: one focused on the original Wicked film and a separate performance showcasing Wicked: For Good. This structure ensures that fans can appreciate both works in dedicated settings, each underscored by live instrumental accompaniment.

Additional vocal elements will occasionally involve a live choir providing backing vocals; however, the principal character voices remain those recorded in the original film. This approach maintains the authenticity of the original cast’s performances while enhancing the overall auditory experience.

The tour’s preview event is scheduled for January 16, 2027, in San Francisco, serving as an introductory performance before the official world premiere. The grand opening will take place at New York’s renowned Radio City Music Hall on January 23, 2027, underscoring the event’s prominence in the live entertainment calendar.

Tickets for the Wicked in Concert tour have already been made available to the public through the official website, WickedInConcert.com. Details about further dates and locations beyond the initial shows remain limited at this time.

This concert format represents a growing trend in live entertainment, where orchestras perform film scores in real time to elevate the viewing experience. By integrating live music with the original film, Wicked in Concert offers audiences a hybrid event that celebrates both cinematic storytelling and the power of live musical performance.

With the original cast’s vocal performances intact and the orchestral score brought to life on stage, attendees can anticipate a multi-sensory experience that pays homage to the musical’s enduring appeal. The event is not a traditional tour featuring the movie stars but rather a meticulously crafted concert presentation designed for fans of the musical and film alike.

As the launch date approaches, more information is expected to emerge regarding the full tour schedule and potential additional cities. For now, fans eager to witness this innovative convergence of film and live music can secure tickets to the initial performances and prepare for a novel way to enjoy Wicked.
